Abu Camp: Okavango Delta Botswana Safari

Camp Quick Facts:

Abu Camp, named after an elephant bull from the original main camp when Africa's elephant back safari were pioneered seventeen years ago first in the Okavango Delta, the camp is located in a marvelled pristine riverine forest, with a vast private game reserve compassing land mass of 180 000 hectares (400 000 acres) in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Today, the pristine famous camp is built on massive grove hardwood trees on the edge of a large lagoon offering a great game viewing of the resident hippopotamus from the camp’s deck view. The superb imaginative use of canvas and poles create a unique style of tents called Afro-Bedouin, high, wide and airy to blend in well with the natural surroundings. Each of the beautifully furnished six en-suite accommodation units offer its own distinctive feel and fittings, many such as decorated antiques, imparting an air of opulence amid the bush setting. Each of the tents has its own unique private elevated teak deck sculpted styles around one of the lofty sycamore figs or jackal berry trees.

The lounge, bedrooms, bathrooms are all completed in African stylish decorated feel with its own comfortable antique furnishers, boasting with its layed out library for field guides illustrate volumes of wildlife information. Pathways linked to tents main lounge and dining area are well-lit with a high vaulted tenting opening out onto a tiered teak decking surrounding a giant termite mound; one of the African characteristic resembles the great sights of the Okavango Delta. All bars are well-stocked providing cold beers, drinks, wines, and post-safari cocktails for sundowners while most of meals are taken on al-fresco at the deck. The Camp has a secluded plunge pool which enables guests to swim after morning or before afternoon game drives to cool off and simply relax with a book before the high tea. Abu Camp’s shady trees and the endless overlooking wilderness views offer a complete tranquil lagoon described as a haven seclusion and peace of mind in the African wilderness.
