The Lodge’s Quick Facts:

Matetsi Water Lodge is positioned in just about 40kilometres above the Victoria Falls within 50,000 hectares of private game reserve. With 15 kilometres of private Zambezi River frontage, Matetsi offers a spectacular and diverse water and wildlife safari. The lodge is set on the lush banks of the Zambezi, shaded by mangosteen and waterberry trees. The Matetsi Private Game Reserve includes great herds of elephant and buffalo, which quench their thirst in the Zambezi River during the dry season (May to October).

The Lodge’s Bedroom, Bathroom and Surroundings:

Accommodation consists of three individual and intimate camps - West Water, North Water and East Water – each comprising just six air-conditioned suites. Each suite has a private plunge pool, en-suite bathroom - with indoor and outdoor showers - and an expansive river deck. Vast teak doors swing open to reveal magnificent river views from the deck. Open sided, thatched guest areas consist of an elegant dining and sitting area with large fireplace. Pan-African cuisine is served on the intimate riverside dining decks or in a surprise setting in Matetsi’s pristine wilderness.

• Safari activities include day and afternoon game drives so as night game-drives in open 4x4 vehicles
• Safari game walks on the Reserve are led by experienced armed guides,
• Zambezi sunset cruise, fishing or guided canoeing safari excursions are also offered
• A complementary shuttle from Matetsi water lodge to Victoria Falls is available allowing guests to enjoy various activities including a helicopter flight, white-water rafting and a scenic tour of Victoria Falls (though these activities are at additional cost).
• Great sightings such as herds of elephant, buffalo, and plains game, sable and rare roan antelope who favour the fringes of the woodlands are seen roaming the area in abundance.
• Pride of lion, cheetah, leopard and spotted hyena are most often encountered predators on day or evening night drives with a spot-light
• Endangered African painted wild dog occasionally set up dens during the winter months of June/July each year
• Large rafts of hippo and Cape clawless otter are at home in the Zambezi River.
• Fruit bats and lesser bush babies are active after dark, a perfect night drive sightings.
• The bird life in Matetsi Game reserve is a complete advantage for the keen birders excellent with over recorded 360 species at Matetsi’s three ecosystems which comprise of riverine, savannah and miombo woodlands.

Camp Accessibility:

Located in about 40kilometres above the Victoria Falls within 50,000 hectares of private game reserve, Seven Wonders of the World near the Zambezi national park, the lodge is accessed by the road transfers from Victoria Falls international airport or within Victoria Falls town. If coming from Botswana, or Zambia, the lodge can be accessed by road transfers as well.
