Nsefu Camp: South Luangwa National Park, Zambia Safari

Camp’s Quick Facts:

Nsefu Camp lies on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River, in the heart of the undeveloped Nsefu sector in the South Luangwa National Park. Nsefu was the first photographic safari camp in Zambia and dates back to the early fifties. The camp was bought by Robin Pope Safaris in 1998 and completely rebuilt and refurbished, in keeping with the view of the river is superb and includes a terraced area where game grazes during the day. River Journeys is a week’s safari, combining the boating experience of Nsefu Camp and Nsefu Camp where you can drive, boat and walk.

The Camp’s Bedroom, Bathroom and Surroundings:

The bar, tucked in beside a huge extinct termite mound, overlooks a waterhole that is very productive for game, especially leopard at night. The original style, complete with wind up gramophone, 1920s hand basins and traditional silver service. Twelve guests can be accommodated in six thatched rondavels, each with an en-suite spacious bathroom with flush loo. Each room has a clear view of the river, through large windows and from the shady wooden verandah. Lighting is supplied by generator and solar lamps.

Located on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River the deep heart of South Luangwa National Park, the Camp can be accessed by charter flight from Lusaka/Livingstone international airport as an easy access to get to the camp due to its remote location.
