Nxabega Safari Camp is situated on the edge of the Okavango Delta in the exclusive Nxabega Concession of 7,000 hectare of land bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. Nxabega which means “Place of the Giraffes� in the Bayei language or (River Bushmen), Nxabega is positioned to explore the magnificent Okavango river swamps, the largest inland delta in the world. The camp consists of ten classical safari tents raised-up on wooden platforms, nestled under a canopy of African ebony trees.

Camp’s Bedrooms, bathrooms and Surrounding:

Each tent has a stylish en-suite bathroom, with shower and flush toilet, and a private veranda overlooking the grasslands fringed by the permanent Delta in the distance. The heart of Nxabega consists of sophisticated living and dining areas. Burnished teak floors, windows and door-frames lofty space crowned by a steeply pitched thatched roof. Beautiful details such as guinea fowl-feathered lampshades, huge wooden bowls filled with glossy chilies and a solitaire game made from the local vegetable ivory pods add signature style to the Camp. The guest areas, which include outside dining and fireside facilities and a swimming pool with expansive deck, are made from local timber, reed and thatch. Special treats during your stay this camp include a private bush dinner, breakfast in bed, a lamp lit dinner on one of the Delta islands.

• Experienced rangers and Batswana trackers lead you on day and night game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles.
• Walking safari with alfresco picnic are also conducted as optional activities.
• Alternatively, explore the Delta on foot with a professional armed guide.
• Discover the channels of the delta in a mokoro or on a selp propelled powered engine boat excursion.
• Guests should note that the water based activities are best from June to September.
• Go fishing with a myriad of fish species including the fine-toothed squeaker and African pike, fishing from Nxabega's powerboat.
• Go bird watching and record your own 350 species and identify the rich wetland species such as African jacana, malachite kingfisher and open-billed stork or spotting Pel’s fishing owl – one of the only three fishing owls in Africa.
• Intermingled while on game drives with expert guides and sight the larger herbivores in the area such as herds elephant, buffalo, Lion prides cheetah, leopard and African painted wild dog.
• Enjoy viewing the general game of antelopes such as herds of red lechwe which favour the edges of floodplains, often feeding in the company of tsessebe, Roan and sable antelope favour taller grass in open woodlands and elusive sitatunga found in dense papyrus beds.
• Go river safari by Mokoro or boat and get to hear the bellowing sound of the hippopotamus residing in deep water channels and lagoons.
• Spot the Honey badgers milling around the day-light hours.
• Families of dwarf and banded mongoose occupy large termite mounds.
• Dine on evening meals and quietly listen to the sounds of the noisy epauletted fruit Bats sipping nectar from baobab and sausage tree flower blooms around the camp.

Camp Accessibility:

Located in Okavango Delta swamps, the camp can only be accessed by a charter flight from Maun town, the tourism capital of Botswana, and then got transferred to the Camp by the game-viewing or mokoro ride/ a boat depending the high water-levels in winter months of June/July.
